manifest your body’s natural healing powers to make you feel well again

At wellbe, our naturopathic doctors are here to help every member of your family feel their very best. We work with you one-on-one to help identify the underlying root cause of your symptoms and then use a combination of natural therapeutic modalities such as botanical medicine, nutrition, food sensitivity testing, acupuncture, cupping, eastern medicine, along with evaluating several lifestyle factors, in order to manifest your body’s natural healing powers to make you feel well again.

Naturopathic doctors have training in both medical/clinical sciences, as well as extensive training in a broad spectrum of natural medicines and therapies, including acupuncture. NDs are able to spend much more time with their patients, attempting to uncover the root cause of disease and aiding the body’s natural healing process. The treatments used are gentle, less invasive and have fewer side effects than common pharmaceutical medications. Prevention is always at the forefront in any naturopathic treatment plan.

Your initial naturopathic assessment will include a detailed health history review, discussion of your present health concerns, health goals, and relevant physical examination. Lab testing may be recommended to aid in assessment and diagnosis, and preliminary treatments are outlined.

Yes, our NDs can requisition for a variety of laboratory tests, including those commonly requested by an MD. There is a fee to run lab tests, as it is not covered by OHIP. The exact cost will depend on the specific tests being ordered, but we will always discuss this with you first. If you have questions about a specific lab test, it would be best to speak with one of our naturopathic doctors in a 20min consultation.

If you have copies of lab work performed within in the last year, please bring this to your visit. A list of current medications and supplements (including brand and dose) would also be helpful during your initial assessment.

Naturopathic visits are not covered by OHIP. Depending on your private health insurance plan, visits may be fully or partially subsidized. It is recommended to contact your insurance plan ahead of time to see what coverage is provided.

Vitamin B12 is one of the essential vitamins in our bodies responsible for many functions including nerve health, fat/protein metabolism, and blood cell production. The only naturally occurring B12 in our diet comes from animal products, the rest is artificially added to foods to try and combat deficiencies

  • Fatigue / lethargic
  • Numbness or tingling in hands or feet
  • Mouth ulcers / cankers
  • Foggy memory
  • Depression
  • Vegetarians, vegans, and infrequent meat eaters.
  • Certain medications like antacids, cholesterol reducers, and metformin reduce the ability for the body to absorb B12.
  • As we age, our ability to absorb B12 decreases therefore elderly patients often benefit from injections.
  • Inflammatory conditions in the gut like celiac and IBD decrease the ability to absorb b12 from foods and oral supplements.

Oral supplementation is preferred over injections during pregnancy. Our ND can help you determine the right form and dosage for you during this exciting time.

Your vitamin B12 levels in your blood must have been tested within the last year. If they are lower than 300, you may be a candidate for a B12 injection.

If you do not have up to date bloodwork, our Naturopathic Doctor can send you for testing.

Injections are most beneficial when done 1x/month for 6-8 months in order to regain stores in your body, however the treatment plan will be tailored for you.

We use a form of b12 that is already methylated, meaning the body needs to do one less step in order to use it, making it a more absorbable form.

Still not sure if B12 injections can benefit your health? We are happy to set up a complimentary meet and greet with our Naturopathic Doctor to see if this may be the right fit for you!
