Falling Back doesn’t need to be hard. Here are some tried and true tips on how to handle the time change smoothly:

 Keep them Active

Tire. Them. Out. No, seriously. Exercise is good for so many reasons, but the fresh outdoor air helps with both ‘fall back’ and ‘springing forward’ time changes.

 Adjust Their Schedule

If you are feeling that your little one isn’t going to appreciate this time change (and you don’t want to be waking up earlier), start putting your child to bed 15-30 minutes later roughly 3-4 days prior to the change. This will allow for natural change. Don’t forget to adjust your family’s meal and nap times too!

 Practice Solid Sleep Hygiene

Continue with the bedtime routine you have been employing each and every night. Keep the routine consistent no matter what time you are putting your child to bed.

 Self-care is Key

Try to be gentle with yourself because changing clocks can be stressful for parents – and kids - as everyone adjusts to the new schedule. Get a massage, meditate, and/or exercise!
