Book with Marissa (leslieville)"Life isn't waiting for the storm to pass...it is learning to dance in the rain"
A familiar and fitting quote that Marissa uses to describe her work with clients. Marissa ensures that she is there to support her clients on their journey to accomplish their therapy goals - now offering counseling virtually.
Marissa’s patience, sense of humour and caring nature, along with a straightforward approach, allow for a refreshing perspective to therapy work that clients have found effective, especially in the virtual setting. Marissa believes in building therapeutic rapport and providing a safe space for clients to overcome their challenges, understanding the benefits for individuals and families who may have a difficult time getting to a location, or those with busy schedules needing to incorporate self-care with therapy.
Equipped with a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Social Work, Marissa also has experience in solution-focused therapy, cognitive-behavioural therapy, narrative therapy, and anti-Black racism. Additionally, Marissa can support individuals with a variety of issues such as better communication with friends, family, partners, parenting concerns, work stress, racial stress, and more, all from the comfort of their home.
Marissa brings extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and their families where the concern is mental health and/or various life transitions. Marissa believes in using an anti-oppressive and culturally sensitive lens when working with clients to ensure a holistic and inclusive approach. With virtual counselling, Marissa offers access to quick and effective virtual resources to support your therapy journey, assisting with motivation, goal setting, and coming up with a plan catered to each person's needs, all from the convenience of their home.
