meet Samantha Reid, MSW, RSW

social worker & psychotherapist, bookworm and community activist

Book with Samantha (Leslieville)

“Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add colour to my sunset sky.”

This quote perfectly reflects Samantha’s outlook on life and therapy. It reminds her that challenges bring growth and richness to our experiences, and she’s dedicated to helping clients see their own struggles as opportunities for transformation.

As a Canadian woman of Trinidadian and Bajan descent, Samantha values the power of storytelling and culture. She sees them as tools for healing, connection, and advocacy and brings this perspective into her work with couples, BIPOC clients, and diverse communities.

Her approach is warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed. She is sensitive to the relationship between individual experiences and systemic injustices, understanding that clients define what constitutes a safe space.

Samantha’s passion for helping others started young - she began volunteering at just 14, working with homeless shelters, non-profit organizations, and mental health centers. Before becoming a therapist, she spent years supporting students with autism, ODD, ADHD, anxiety, and depression as well as young dancers facing body image challenges. Her journey through social work has always been about creating change, one step at a time.

She developed educational workshops to provide community members with resources from legal advocacy groups and social workers. Her life’s mission is to co-create justice in society, and she remains dedicated to exploring these areas if they emerge in her therapeutic sessions.

Trained in multiple evidence-based interventions, she is flexible with her approach, advocating for marginalized youth and providing culturally adapted care to diverse populations.

Whether she’s providing care for couples or supporting families and kiddos, Samantha’s goal is simple: to help her clients find meaning, resilience, and strength in every challenge they face.
